Third Test Highlights Australia VS. England, Adelaide
- Australia's 371 is their fourth-lowest total against England which has included four 50+ partnerships. Their lowest such total is 258 at Melbourne in 1978-79.
- Alex Carey became the fifth Australian wicket-keeper to score a century against England. He joins Adam Gilchrist, Brad Haddin, Ian Healy and Rod Marsh.
- Mitchell Starc became the second Australian number 9 to score consecutive fifties joining Peter Siddle (whose two fifties came in the same Test against India at Delhi in 2013-14).
- Only three other players have scored successive fifties against England at number 9: Pakistan's Asif Iqbal in 1967; Bhuvneshwar Kumar for India in 2014 (also in the same Test) and Jayant Yadav, also for India, in 2016.
- Australia's recovery from 94 for 4 to 371 all out is their best against England at Adelaide. Previously, their best was 258 runs in 1920-21 when they went from 96 for 4 to 354 all out.
- Nathan Lyon became the second highest wicket-taker for Australia going past Glenn McGrath (563) with his dismissal of Ben Duckett. Only Shane Warne (708) stands ahead of Lyon.
- For their fifth time at Adelaide, all England bowlers (min. 5) used conceded 50 or more runs each in the same innings.
- The partnership of 106 between Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer is the fifth highest for the ninth wicket for England against Australia. The highest is 151 between William Scotton and Walter Read at The Oval in 1884. There have been six such century partnerships for England against Australia for the ninth wicket.
- Archer became the first number 10 to score a fifty and take five wickets in one innings of the same Test for England against Australia.
- Against all countries, there have only been two England players who have accomplished Archer feat: Chris Lewis against West Indies at Edgbaston in 1991 and Stuart Broad, also against West Indies, at Manchester in 2020.
- Carey became only the third wicket-keeper to score a century in one innings of a Test, a fifty in the other and make five dismissals in one innings. He joins Denis Lindsay (South Africa vs. Australia at Johannesburg in 1966-67) and Matt Prior (England vs. New Zealand at Auckland 2012-13).
- Will Jacks became the sixteenth player for England - and eighth against Australia - to concede 100 or more runs in each innings of the same Test.
- Harry Brook became the eighth England fielder (excluding wicket-keepers) to take four catches in an innings against Australia. He is the fifth cricketer to do so at Adelaide.
- Stokes has now had 43 dismissals bowled in his Test career, the second most for England behind only Stuart Broad (44).
- Marnus Labuschagne became the seventh Australian fielder (excluding wicket-keepers) to take four or more catches in an innings against England.
- The last time that England had four or more fifty partnerships in an innings against Australia in a losing cause was at Melbourne in 2002-03.
- Carey became only the third Australian wicket-keeper to be given the match award against England. The last such was Adam Gllchrist at Edgbaston in 2001
- For the third successive Ashes series held in Australia, the home team has secured the urn at the earliest possible opportunity, after the third of five Tests. The series mentioned are 2021-22, 2017-18 and 2013-14.
